Samantha Davenport joined Team CED as our Startups Storyteller! In this role, she will tell the stories of Alaska’s entrepreneurs and the larger ecosystem supporting them. Samantha is the lead contributor to the Alaska Startups website and will manage the associated social media channels. The opportunity to have someone with her talent showcasing entrepreneurs in Alaska incredibly valuable, and is a service we’re proud to offer our state.
Margo, Richelle, and Ian attended the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce Young Professional Summit last month. The summit theme was “LEVEL UP: Learn, Grow, Inspire” and favorite panels included “Flippin’ a Biz: the Art of Buying & Selling” and “Climbing in Tandem: Success in Pairs.”
Feedback is my third favorite four-letter word. By that, I mean the word gift. If you have been to one of my recent workshops, you would have heard me outline the expectation that feedback is a gift. Now, I must admit I absolutely stole this expectation (with permission) from the design thinking geniuses at DesignThinking.bg. It has become a staple guiding principle for my workshops and my life in general.

CED’s book club kicked off with The Mom Test by Rob Fitzpatrick, which is about “how to talk to customers and learn if your business is a good idea when everyone is lying to you.” It’s a quick and easy read, and each of us came away with new perspectives on customer discovery, which is the process of identifying customers and understanding their purchasing behavior and motivations.
Team CED recently attend the North by North (NxN) Festival at the Anchorage Museum. NxN brings innovators and researchers from across Alaska, the nation and other Arctic regions to collaborate and address local and circumpolar challenges.
